Irish status: Widespread and Common

The Flame - a common moth of Ireland and the UK. The range extends as far as northern India. It feeds on various foodplants which include clover, vetch, nettle, and dandelion. It has a wingspan of around 27-32 mm and flies in June and July. Photographed in Co. Leitrim.
