Emmelina monodactyla

Irish status: Widespread

Common Plume - this strange looking moth has a wingspan of 18-27 mm. There are a lot of colour variations. The wings are divided when open but the moth rests with wings rolled up as seen here, so wing formation cannot normally be seen in the wild habitat. They fly from late May to September. I photographed this individual in my garden in Leitrim Ireland in early June.
