Irish status: Widespread and Common

Buff Ermine - has a wingspan of 34-42 mm. Similar moth to the White Ermine but with a more yellow buff colour and a different markings to the wing pattern. The diagonal spots on each wing show an inverted vee pattern when the wings are folded. They fly from May to July and they are attracted to light. Some of its main food plants are Nettle, Honeysuckle and Birch. Photographed in Co. Leitrim.
