Vanessa cardui
Painted Lady - One of the most widespread of all butterflies, found on almost every continent. It migrates from North Africa and the Mediterranean to Britain in May and June. I have come across this beautiful butterfly in quite a few places. These photographs are from Allestree in Derby UK, Praia de Rocha, Vilamoura, and Quinta do Lago all in Portugal.
