Chinese Character - flies in two generations in May and June then in August to September. A small moth with a wingspan of 18-22 mm. When at rest it resembles a bird dropping to avoid predation. Some of the main foodplants are blackthorn, rowan and bramble. It usually flies at night and is attracted to light. Unmistakable, unusual looking moth. Photographed in Co. Leitrim.
