Phlogophora meticulosa

Irish status: Widespread and Common.

Angle Shades - Up to now I have only observed the caterpillar of this moth. It has a wingspan of up to 50 mm. It flies from May to October and is attracted to light. It is an unusual looking moth with autumn colours that blend into dead leaves. The caterpillar as shown here feed on sallow, brambles and nettles. I came across this caterpillar in Greaghnafarna Co. Leitrim.
