Irish status: Widespread and Common

Hebrew Character - Wingspan 30-38 mm. It is So called because of the black wing Marking resembling a Hebrew letter. It has a variety of food plants including hazel, meadowsweet, birch and alder. It flies in a single generation between March and May although this specimen was photographed in early May at Greaghnafarna Co. Leitrim.
